Did you know that your sleeping position can affect you? According to Vaastu Shastra, sleeping in the right direction is crucial to feeling positive. We’ve listed the directions that Vaastu recommends.

Sleeping direction towards the North

Vaastu strongly opposes the sleeping position with the head in the North direction. Vaastu recommends never sleeping with the top of your head pointing to the north and your feet pointing to the south. Doing so brings about a very disturbed sleep and is also known to bring about negative vibrations. When you have disturbed sleep, it brings about frustration, emotional instability, and irritability. So your physical and mental health will suffer.

According to the Hindu tradition, only a dead body is kept with the head pointing the North and the feet towards the South.

Sleeping direction towards the South

According to Vastu Shastra, this is the most ideal position to sleep.  It is highly recommended that one sleeps with a head towards the South. Sleeping with the head facing the South is known to provide sound sleep & health and increase the wealth and prosperity in the household. When you have sound sleep, you tend to develop better willpower and a calm mind, leading to positive thinking.

Sleeping direction towards the East

East is known to be the direction of knowledge and enlightenment. East is also where the Sun rises. Sleeping with the head facing/resting towards the East enhances your memory and health and leaves you spiritually inclined. Sleeping with the head towards the East is usually advised for the kid’s rooms. This leads to higher concentration and retention power.

Sleeping direction towards the West

According to Vaastu experts,  sleeping with one’s head in the West is suitable for people who do not permanently reside in the house, like married daughters in their parent’s house or guests who are there for a short visit. Vaastu Shastra does not advise sleeping in this direction for long because it can cause sleep disruptions, leading to illness.

Vaastu Tip: If you have a dressing table in your bedroom, it should not face your bed.
