Once the New Year arrives (and it isn’t very far off) many people will want to think about taking a short break or weekend away. With the run up to Christmas it’s all too easy to tire yourself out running around shopping and making sure everyone has a great time, so it’s good to have something planned to look forward to. However, sometimes it can be hard to find a place that you really like, so here are a few tips to get you started.

Consider how far you want to travel. Do you want a place you can arrive at in an hour or so or does distance not bother you at all. In that case you are going to have far more choice which could make finding a hotel even more difficult. If you narrow it down to say a 60 mile radius then choosing may be easier for you.

Next, think about the facilities that are important to you. Would you be happy with a basic hotel with no frills or do you think you deserve a bit of luxury for once. Many hotel guests nowadays expect much more in the way of facilities, so it’s not uncommon to find things such as private hot tubs (such as the ever popular Vita Spa models), high quality décor and spa facilities on the premises. Booking at a well equipped hotel like this will mean you’ll have enough to occupy yourself with during your stay if you don’t want to explore the surrounding area or if the weather is bad.

If you want to make the most of your break and explore the nearest town or surrounding countryside, then choose an area you haven’t visited before and before submitting your booking, take time to read any reviews left online by previous guests to confirm the quality of service and facilities on offer.
