The provincial government here is set to purchase P150 million worth of heavy equipment that include three road graders, one bulldozer, two loaders, one backhoe, 10 6-wheeler dump trucks following the approval given by the members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) to governor Alvaro Antonio to enter into a loan agreement with a bank here to fund the purchase of these equipment.
Presiding officer and vice governor Leonides Fausto said the legislative body has intensively discussed the request of purchase which was stipulated in the letter of the governor addressed to the SP last April 25.
Fausto disclosed they have earlier talks with the governor regarding the need to purchase heavy equipment which are useful in times of calamities. “The equipment are also important in the rehabilitation of the damaged infrastructures,” the vice governor added.
“It can also be recalled that the Sangguniang Panlalawigan members have openly expressed their approval for the purchase of these equipment after seeing their importance in the preemptive evacuation during the past typhoons.
However, the board members clarified that the authorization given to the governor is only for him to enter into a loan agreement. The proposed bank where the loan will be entered was not yet approved and the SP has advised the governor instead to look for a bank which can offer the smallest interest.
